Trier Auctions | Century-Old Events Selling Some of the Finest Riesling on Earth

The Bernkasteler Ring and the Grosser Ring / VDP Mosel have both been holding annual Auctions for over a century now. The 2017 edition will respectively take place on September 14 and 15, 2017.

Trier Auctions | Versteigerung Trier | Riesling | Wine | Picture

At these auction events, member Estates of the Bernkasteler Ring and the Grosser Ring / VDP Mosel offer some of their finest casks of wine on sale. Except for some mature rarities, auction wines are different from the ones sold via regular channels. These are typically made from particularly privileged parts of a vineyard, from very old vines or from particularly ruthless grape selections.

The Issue No 37 includes a full historic background to these Auctions whose history goes back over more than a century and details on how to participate as a private individual or as a wine merchant.

Trier Auctions 2017 | Focus on 2016 with Quite Some Mature Rarities

At the 2017 Auctions, the focus will be on the sale of wines from the 2016 vintage, a charmer of a vintage which hides some stunner cut along the canons of the 1997 vintage in its midst.

Besides this, also the 2013er St Urbans-Hof Piesporter Goldtröpfchen TBA will be released as well as a full array of BA and TBA from the grand 2015 vintage by member Estates of the Bernkasteler Ring.

Finally, some superb mature wines will be auctioned off this year as well, including magnum cellar releases of the 1997er Geltz-Zilliken Saarburger Rausch Auslese lange GK as well as some bottles of BA and TBA including the 2007er Leo Fuchs TBA vom grauen Schiefer and the 2003er Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler Bernkasteler alte Badstube am Doctorberg TBA.

The Issue No 37 includes detailed tasting notes to the wines on offer at the two events. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only complete and independent Guide to both Auctions published in advance of these events, thereby allowing those readers who cannot attend the event to nevertheless participate by bidding should they wish so.
